Henri Focillon

Der französische Kunsthistoriker Henri Focillon (1881–1943) wurde 1913 Professor in Lyon, 1925 an der Sorbonne und 1938 am Collège de France in Paris. Ab 1940 lebte er in den USA, wo er an der Yale University lehrte. Focillon schrieb u. a. über Romanik, europäische Malerei des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts und buddhistische Kunst. Lob der Hand erschien im französischen Original erstmals 1934.
