This limited edition from November 2000 presents twelve original photos by Karl Lagerfeld. The photos are gold-toned gelatin silver prints with a matt surface, individually mounted on acid-free passepartout cardboard, presented with a cover sheet signed by Karl Lagerfeld, and all contained in a clothbound clamshell box. The photos were crafted by Lagerfeld’s then darkroom printer of choice Vif Argent, Laboratoire Photographique Professionnel in Paris.

In Aktstrakt, Karl Lagerfeld deals with the topic of “form”. In doing so, he takes the liberty of broadening, in the Beuysian sense, the concept of art, including man’s physicality. The strictly thought-out abstract male nudes in Aktstrakt formally reinterpret the tradition of Bauhaus photography.
