This book is a collection of Bryan Adams’ photographic portraits of iconic Canadians who shape the arts and entertainment industries, politics and sport. From venerated figures such as Joni Mitchell and Christopher Plummer, to more recent stars such as The Weeknd and Shawn Mendes; from Justin Trudeau, to Margaret Atwood and Linda Evangelista, Adams shows a range of subjects representing Canadian identity on the world stage today. His photos are direct, intimate and often playful, reflecting, in the words of Royal Ontario Museum curator Arlene Gehmacher, “Canadians’ reputation for lack of self-importance and even comic self-deprecation”. This is perhaps no more evident than in Adams’ ironic self-portrait in the book, taken with his back to the camera.
