This portfolio of 26 Algraphy prints presents Karl Lagerfeld’s 2011 black-and-white photo campaign for the German porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal. Here Lagerfeld reinterprets the traditions and expectations associated with porcelain, by creating bold installations of these delicate creations featuring male model Brad Kroenig. Says Lagerfeld: “By choosing a male model I wanted to play with the bourgeois clichés inherently attached to a table service of porcelain and crystal. Brad seems to be the very opposite to the fragility and brittleness of these precious objects—though perhaps it’s all just a wonderful illusion.”
