“Robert Frank, Part Two” is a special edition of the renowned Swiss art and culture magazine Du, focused on Robert Frank’s seminal practice. It encompasses the spectrum of Frank’s work, from photographs made in Paris and London in the early 1950s, to pictures taken in 1955–56 on his travels throughout the United States which resulted in The Americans; from his introspective photo-collages of the 1970s, to contact sheets and film stills. With texts by authors including Beat figures Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs, as well as an excerpt from Frank’s 1990 single-take film One Hour, “Robert Frank, Part Two” is a concise and eloquent appraisal of Frank’s central position in the history of photography.
