Alf Lechner

Born in Munich, Alf Lechner (1925–2017) is regarded as one of the most important German steel sculptors. In a career of more than six decades he created over 800 sculptural works and more than 4,500 works on paper. With over 80 sculptures on view in public spaces in Germany alone, Lechner is one of the most represented sculptors throughout the country. His oeuvre explores the relationship between engineering and art, between rationality and emotion, reflection calculation and chance.
