Fouad Elkoury was born in 1952 in Paris, and today lives between Paris and Beirut. After studying architecture in London in 1979, Elkoury turned to photography and depicted Beirut during the civil war. In 1997 Elkoury co-founded the Arab Image Foundation in Beirut, which archives and promotes photography from the surrounding region. He has exhibited extensively including at the Maison Européene de la Photographie in Paris and the Venice Biennale.
