Glen Seator (1956–2002) produced a body of sculptural work from 1980 to 2002 centered around the embodied observer in built space. His works were presented at Sculpture Center, White Columns, Construction in Process, Zacheta, PS1, Neuberger Museum, Burnett Miller Gallery, New York Kunsthalle, Kunstraum Wien, White Cube, Capp Street Project, Gagosian Gallery, Mary Boone Gallery, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and Addison Gallery. Nearly all were destroyed. Two surviving works—BDO and Sculpture with French Desk—are preserved in the permanent collections of the Whitney and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museums. Seator was awarded fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the Getty Research Institute, both in 2001; and in 2002, the Getty Research Institute presented an international symposium, The Work of Glen Seator, moderated by Thomas Crow. Seator fell from the roof of his house in Brooklyn at the age of 46.
