Suketu Mehta, 1963 in Kalkutta geboren, wuchs in Bombay auf. Seine Familie wanderte 1977 nach Amerika aus. Mehta studierte an der New York University und lebt heute als Autor in New York. Seine Texte erschienen u. a. im New York Times Magazine, in Granta, Harper‘s Magazine, Time und National Geographic. Für sein Buch Bombay: Maximum City erhielt Mehta den Kiriyama Prize 2005.
