Alfred Roller

Alfred Roller, 1864 bis 1935, war Bühnenbildner, Grafiker und Maler. Nachdem Gustav Mahler in 1903 an die Hofoper in Wien geholt hatte, arbeitete Roller dort bis 1909 als Ausstattungschef und reformierte mit Mahler das Musiktheater in kongenialer Zusammenarbeit. Er gehört neben Hugo von Hofmannsthal und Max Reinhardt zu den Gründern der Salzburger Festspiele.
