Steidl Book Culture is a synonym for modern photography and visual books, and for all the art and craft contained within them: graphic design, typography, printing and binding. Book of Books accompanies the upcoming—and to date largest—Steidl exhibition at Ground Seesaw Seochon, Seoul. As both printer and publisher, Steidl has a unique structure whereby all steps of production take place under one roof, and the artist is intimately involved in every step of the process. Each Steidl book is distinguished by its individual design and materials, with one goal: to realize the artist’s dream as an enduring book multiple. Presenting physical book objects alongside photographic prints, posters, films, and interactive bookmaking materials such as paper, cloth and bookmarks, Book of Books shares the spectrum of Steidl publications and answers questions aspiring bookmakers might be asking themselves: what are head and tail bands? A tipped-in photo? How to properly bind a softcover book of more than 900 pages?
