How does one photograph the Eiffel Tower—that icon of architecture which has already been represented millions of times—in an original and modern way? How to give new life to the quintessential symbol of Paris? Karl Lagerfeld has the answer in this limited edition of stone lithographs, photographing the tower in close-up detail and transforming it into abstract geometric grids. In Lagerfeld’s vision the sky becomes a flattened cream plane and the tower before it looms in patterns of black, which, when seen in isolation, are tantalizingly unrecognizable as the word’s most famous tower.
